Football is the most popular sport in the worlds. It is also called soccer. FIFA is the ultimate governing body of football. There are various football careers n the football. Here we discussed some of the football careers:
Football Coach:
Football coach, you are responsible for developing skills and techniques of football team and players. Football coaches also inspire football teams and players. Football coaches work with all types of types teams including school team, professional club team for national team.

Football coach is mainly responsible for following activities:
- Manage activities, arrange training sessions and programs
- Provide match summary and feedback and advice players' on their fitness, performance, team work and skills.
- Discuss strategies and schemes on both personal as well as team level.
- While with competitive teams, football also guide players on their nutrition, injury prevention as well as rehabilitation program
- Always try to find out and adopt best practice methods and modern style of coaching
- Motivate players to be always positive and disciplined.
At some senior level, football coach also:
- Evaluate matches and players performance.
- Plan modern training technique and procedures.
- Interact with the media.
As a football coach you can work at different level including at amateur level, professional level. You can also work in the community with children or youth teams or in school or league clubs.
There are following level in coaching qualification designed by Football Association (FA) for football coach. You need to complete these levels :
- For club coach: FA Level 1
- For club coach: FA Level 2
- UEFA 'B' Level 3
- UEFA 'A' Level
Usually, you have to start with FA Level 1 course. This course introduces you to football coaching and enhances your understanding of game. There is no need of prior experience for this course. However, to be eligible for FA Level 2 course, you have to complete Level 1 or you must have some coaching experience.
When you complete your Level 2 course and you have some coaching experience, you can for higher level FA coaching qualifications. You have to take higher level qualification to coach at higher level. If you have experience of playing football, then it will be an added advantage for you. It is also possible to achieve coaching qualification from various degree courses in sports studies, coaching, sports science and physical education.
As a football coach, you should always be open new concepts and enhance your skills and techniques of the game. FA courses will help you in this regard.
Football Referee:
A football referee is responsible for conduction a football match, make sure all players follow the rule of the games and also look after the players' safety.
Before the start of the match, referee:
- Examine the playground and look whether goalposts and nets are safely set up are properly set up.
- Verify the markings on the ground.
- Also make sure all the equipments like cards, stopwatches and radio communications system (optional) are with them.
- Communicate with team management to see any last minute changes in playing eleven and substitutes.
- Discuss with your assistants about the signals to use in the particular match.
While during a match, refree:
- Monitor the game and make decisions.
- Coordinate with assistants to support his rulings.
- Make sure game is played in the right spirit.
- Also manage the behavior of the both teams and their management staff
- In matches at higher levels, referee also prepares match reports including in controversial incident.
You have to complete 8 week long course which is organized by Football Association. To be eligible for course, following is the criteria:
- Age more than 14.
- Physically fit.
- Good eyesight.
Professional Football Player:
A professional football player represents his team in various tournaments including club matches, league matches as well as national and international fixtures.
As a professional, usually you are responsible for:
- Represent your team in various matches against other teams.
- Participate in training sessions regularly to enhance your skills and fitness.
- Other activities include work on tactics, watching videos of matches; assess your strengths and weaknesses, seek advice of specialists like coaches, sports psychologists, physiotherapists and team manager and also take advice on diet and lifestyle.
